about-me

about me

sun + moon in leo.

born in washington, dc.

occasionally live in los angeles but mostly in vermont.

worked at style.com in my 20s when print mags thought the internet was a fad. interviewed a lot of celebrities at parties but always went home early.

talked to lots of designers backstage at many fashion shows. consistently wore cute shoes 1/2 a size too small and hobbled home on bloody stumps.

(every fashion show review I've ever written, lovingly archived on an old wordpress site whose login credentials are lost and gone forever. sad face. RIP.)

helped put together a special issue of the wall street journal magazine and did an actual double take when the kid who used to torture me in kindergarten was at my table at the awards gala at MoMA.

lived on an organic winery in Tuscany for a month and "helped" with the harvest. when the power wasn't out I blogged about it for epicurious.com. this post, about meeting a "life sciences rock star," is a) magically still findable and b) recounts one of the best days of my life.

spent a couple of summers using the free beauty products in the bathroom of harper's bazaar while working on the annual print edition of their runway report and writing hundreds of one-line fashion show reviews like this saucy delight: "With Kate Moss and co. smoldering as naughty French maids and nipped-and-tucked forties vixens, Marc Jacobs found a kinky control."

used to moonlight as a yoga teacher and played the same Beyoncé song during shavasana for many months until the studio owner sent an email to all the teachers reminding them that shavasana was for silence.
